How do I get the $50?

3. Print or save the invitation and share it.

Whichever option(s) you choose, you will receive $50 AOCS cash* for each EFT registrant who submits a form with your name in the Special Request box.

Analysis of Edible Oils Using FT-NIR Spectroscopy

Fats and oils are recognized as important nutrients in the human diet, being consumed in a variety of forms. Rapid quality control of edible oils can be achieved by Bruker Optics dedicated FT-NIR spectrometers. The analysis is quick, economical and safe to use, even for untrained staff.  

Nanoparticles affect nutrient absorption, study suggests

Nanoparticles are everywhere. From cosmetics and clothes, to soda and snacks. But as versatile as they are, nanoparticles also have a downside, say researchers. These tiny particles, even in low doses, could have a big impact on our long-term health.

Lipid Library Updates

New sub-section of the Oils and Fats Section dealing with Lipid Chemistry. The first article to go online deals with Guerbet compounds (by Gerhard Knothe).

The major section of the AOCS Lipid Library dealing with Biochemistry and Nutrition is well underway. A new subsecton - Animal Lipid Biochemistry is now online, and recent articles deal with Phospholipases (Michelle Bamji-Mirza & Zemin Yao) and Glycerophosphate and acylglycerophosphate acyltransferases (Hei Sook Sul). 

The topic of "Nutrition" is in the planning stage, and we would like to have a section dealing with "Biophysics" when a suitable editor can be found. The latest article in Plant Lipid Biochemistry is Triacylglycerol biosynthesis in eukaryotic microalgae (Yonghua Li-Beisson)
