This topical collection in Lipids from the 2015 Northern Great Plains Lipid Conference (NGPLC) is featured on a Springer Chemistry Special Issues site. All articles are now available for a free download until September 10, 2016. Some of the papers are full research articles, while others are timely, topical reviews focused on lipid biochemistry and metabolism. Lipids plans to publish papers from the 2016 NGPLC in mid-2017. Many AOCS members and meeting presenters have contributed to the new conference, as explained in this editorial.

The case of yellow mealworm oil, monitoring, and rapid analysis all in the July/Aug issue of Inform
Insect oils and fats are already used as ingredients in feed. The
July/August issue of Inform considers whether dry fractionation could
make insect oils more versatile for food applications. This issue also reviews
technologies based on vibrational spectroscopy that can continuously monitor
edible oil parameters on the production line, and takes a look at
matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI MS) and
its applications in edible lipids analysis.
