What is the Emerald Test?

Directed by an advisory panel comprised of industry experts and stakeholders, The Emerald Test® is a semi-annual inter-lab comparison and proficiency testing program for cannabis testing labs.

While individual lab data remains private, participants are listed on the Emerald Test website and badges are awarded to high performing labs. This combination provides the highest level of integrity and transparency while enabling individual labs and the entire testing industry the ability to demonstrate proficiency and excellence to their customers.

Potency Test
The Potency Test is comprised of a 5-part cannabinoid matrix in 1mL of Acetonitrile. The test contains 0-1000 µg/mL of THC, THC-A, CBD, CBD-A, and CBN. Enroll Now.

Pesticides Test
The Pesticides Test is comprised of 22 analytes on a hemp matrix with quantities ranging from 0-1000 ng/g. Enroll Now

Microbial Panel 1
Microbial Panel 1 is supplied as a 4-sample panel for quantitative determination of APC, Coliform/E.coli, Yeast/Mold and Enterobacteriaceae. Enroll Now.

Microbial Panel 2
Microbial Panel 2 is supplied as a 3-sample panel for qualitative identification of salmonella spp. in hemp. Enroll Now.

Residual Solvents
The Residual Solvents Test is offered in a 2 parts for stability; 2 gases prepared in dimethylacetomide and 9 compounds in a hemp oil matrix. Enroll Now.

Heavy Metals
The Heavy Metals Test is offered in 2 parts, a solution for cannabis heavy metals and in a hemp matrix. Enroll Now.


Enrollment and Samples

Enrollment is open from Monday, March 20 until Friday, April 7 at 5pm EST. All tests will ship overnight on April 24.

Data submission deadline is May 5 at 5pm EST. 

Test Samples are manufactured by an ISO 17043 accredited PT provider and require overnight shipping, which is included in the price of the test. After receiving and testing the sample, labs must submit their data through an electronic data portal.

Data analysis provided by AOCS with ISO 13528:2015 software and standards for ILC/PT's.

Health and Nutrition Division New Investigator Award

The AOCS Health and Nutrition Division is seeking nominations for the 2017 AOCS Health & Nutrition Division New Investigator Research Award. Self-nominations are welcome. Please submit your nomination materials to Victoria Rouleau (victoria@aocs.org) by March 24, 2017.

The award recognizes a young scientist who is making significant and substantial research contributions in one of the areas represented by the AOCS Health & Nutrition Division. The recipient will give a scientific presentation at the 2017 AOCS Annual Meeting and Industry Showcases, related to the research and development which has merited them the award.

Eligibility: Candidates younger than 36 years old by June 1, 2017, or have received their highest degree within the previous ten years. Candidates must be responsible for the accomplishment of outstanding original research on the health or nutrition of fats or oils. 

Nomination Materials: Nomination letter,  at least three supporting letters, and a curriculum vitae.
