Health Hazards Associated with Laundry Detergent Pods
This week's morbidity and mortlity weekly report from CDC, reports on the health hazards associated with laundry detergent pods, based on poison control center reports in May and June 2012.The CDC simply concludes that exposure to laundry detergent from pods might be associated with adverse health effects more often than exposure to non-pod laundry detergents. USDA Scientists Collaborate with Global Researchers from the International Barley Sequencing Consortium (IBSC) to Advance the Mapping of the Barley Genome, according to the USDA, which notes that "... the advance will give researchers the tools to produce higher yields, improve pest and disease resistance, and enhance nutritional value of barley..."

Minimizing the Climate Impacts of Biofuel Production in Europe
The European Commission (EC) has proposed new legislation to "... limit global land conversion for biofuel production, and raise the climate benefits of biofuels used in the EU."
